 A proud moment for Birla Public School (BPS), Doha, as the students from the secondary section showcased their mathematical brilliance in the Infinity Maths Quiz 2026 – an international competition held at Aditya Birla World Academy, Mumbai, from January 8-10.A highlight of the competition was the individual round titled “Clash of Mathematicians,” in which Dhruv Amit Gaur and Niranjan Smithesh Jayaram represented the school and were awarded bronze medals.The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from schools across India.The highly competitive quiz featured 60 teams comprising 180 students in the senior category. Participants were challenged through a series of rigorous individual and team-based rounds, designed to test their mathematical reasoning, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to collaborate under pressure.Birla Public School was represented by Dhruv Amit Gaur, Niranjan Smithesh Jayaram, and Adnan of Class X.In the team-based rounds —“Bulb Your Ideas,” “Pass the Baton,” and the “Team Challenge” — the team secured a position within the top 30% of all participating teams. This noteworthy achievement earned the team certificates and a memento. Additionally, all three participants received Merit Certificates in recognition of their overall performance in the quiz.The students were trained under the guidance of Shibu PS, head of the Department of Mathematics. The team was accompanied by Shiju Mathew of the Mathematics Department.The school management and the senior leadership team congratulated the students and the teachers for the remarkable achievement.  Source link

Two Physical Education faculty members of MES Indian School were recently felicitated at the 7th Edition of the Expats Sportive Community Sports Meet 2026 in recognition of their exemplary contributions to the field of sports. Steeson K Mathew and Mohamed Navas were accorded special honours during the grand inaugural ceremony, which celebrated individuals who have made significant strides in the sporting community and recognised their outstanding achievements and dedicated commitment to promoting sporting excellence.Mathew, an International Asian Masters Athletics bronze medalist in javelin throw at the championship held in the Philippines, was honoured by First Lt Abdul Aziz al-Mohannadi in appreciation of his remarkable contributions and excellence in athletics.Navas, an Indian handball team player and bronze medalist at the World Masters Games 2025 held in Taiwan, received his honour from Satheesh, CFO of Al Ajjaj Limited Company. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of Qatar-based international athletes and acknowledged their significant contributions to the promotion and development of sports. The recognition of the MES Indian School staff members highlighted their dedication and commitment to sporting excellence, bringing pride to the institution.  Related Story Source link

DPS-Modern Indian School conducted its annual Sport Day with great enthusiasm, showcasing student athleticism, discipline, and teamwork through a range of competitive and cultural sporting events.The event was inaugurated in the presence of chief guest Abdul Nasser, noted sportsperson, and guest of honour Yasir Nainar, president of the DPS Group of Institutions, along with members of the school management and leadership team. Proceedings commenced with a synchronised March Drill and a March Past by the school’s four houses — Lily, Lotus, Rose, and Tulip — highlighting coordination and house spirit. Traditional displays including Leziem and Mallakhamb added cultural richness to the programme and were well received by the audience. Students competed in track events such as the Relay Race and the 50-metre dash, with inter-house participation encouraging healthy competition and teamwork. Students who brought laurels to the school in the CBSE and national level sports competitions were felicitated at the event. The Philippine Muslim Federation (PMF) Qatar successfully conducted back-to-back community activities in early February, strengthening unity and promoting Islamic values among Filipino Muslims in the country.On February 4, PMF organised the 2nd PMF Bowling Tournament at the Qatar Bowling Centre. The event served as a fundraising activity for the upcoming Qur’an for Kids Season 5. A total of 10 teams participated and showed strong support for the noble cause.The Philippine Muslim Association emerged as the champion of this year’s tournament. The Organisation of Muslim Mindanao Overseas Workers secured second place, followed by Al Salaam Inc in third. Davao Muslim Organisation Qatar in fourth place and Team Primoz in fifth. Other participating teams included the Philippine Overseas Muslim Development Association, Team Radz, Al Muttahidat, HMC-POGS, and Fazicaldo.The tournament was marked by a spirit of sportsmanship, friendship, and brotherhood among the participants, making it a memorable evening for the community.On February 6, PMF conducted another major activity in preparation for the blessed month of Ramadan. The PMF Istiqbal Ramadan programme was held at the Academia International Institute and Studies. The event featured three esteemed speakers: Ustadz Mohammad Bin Mohd Tayb Sacatan Pagayawan, Ustadz Zacaria Abbas Madale, and Ustadz Tirmidhi Musa, who shared valuable insights on spiritual and physical preparation for Ramadan.PMF president Cary Yasir M Aragat thanked all supporters and participants who contributed to the success of the programme. He also extended special appreciation to Annaliza Noor Diet for generously allowing the organisation to use its hall as the venue. Aragat said that PMF has lined up several meaningful activities for the month of Ramadan and beyond, including a Ramadan Lecture and Iftar on February 20, the Qur’an for Kids Season 5 on March 7, the PMF Ramadan Umrah, and the PMF Post-Eid’l Fitr celebration. These programmes aim to further strengthen faith, unity, and active participation within the Filipino Muslim community in Qatar.  Related Story Source link

With a primary aim to instill Islamic values and promote cultural awareness among young learners during the holy month of Ramadan, the Department of Arabic, Urdu, and Islamic Studies of MES Indian School organised a series of vibrant intra-school competitions under the title Ramadan Radiance.The programme featured Arabic Speech (Elocution), Adhan, and Arabic Calligraphy competitions and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various grades. The results of the competitions were as follows. In the Junior category of Arabic Elocution, the first prize was awarded to Eisa Muhammed Shanavas (6-A), the second prize to Maliha Fatima (5-O), and the third prize to Ammar Mohammed Irshadullah (6-E). MES Kindergarten Section recently celebrated Fairy Tale Day with vibrant joy and creativity, transforming the campus into a delightful world of imagination and wonder. The event was a kaleidoscope of colour and enchantment, bringing beloved fairy tales to life and creating lasting memories for all who attended.Adding to the ‘magic’, the little ones arrived in bright, beautiful costumes inspired by popular fairy tale characters. Princesses, heroes, and storybook figures filled the kindergarten, infusing the atmosphere with excitement and fantasy. Qatar Indian Masters emerged as overall champions at the Community Sports Meet, organised by Expats Sportive in celebration of Qatar National Sport Day. Excelling in both track and field events, they secured 147 points to claim the title. KL 10 Legends finished second with 117 points, followed by Calicut Sports Club with 108 points. Syro Malabar Cultural Association and Kia Qatar placed fourth and fifth, respectively.Held at the Aspire Zone Warm-Up Track and Field with the approval of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, the meet featured around 750 athletes competing in 37 events across athletics and games. Competitions included 100m, 200m, 800m, and 1,500m races, 4×100 relay, long jump, high jump, shot put, arm wrestling, tug of war, shootout, and cricket bowling.The event also showcased a vibrant march past, with cultural performances including Oppana, Kolkali, Chenda Melam, martial arts displays, and tableaux celebrating the diversity of India and Qatar. Harish Pandey, First Secretary at the Embassy of India, received the salute, and Qatari-based athletes who have represented India internationally were honoured.Distinguished guests included Abdul Aziz al-Mohannadi (Community Police), Mohammed Nasser al-Kaldi (Kahramaa), ISC president EP Abdul Rahman, ICC general-secretary Abraham Joseph, ICBF general-secretary Deepak Shetty, and several community leaders and organisation representatives.Individual champions included Abdunnasar Kuniyil (Calicut Sports Club, Masters men 50+), Mahroof (KL 10 Legends, men 20–35), Kannan Santos (Qatar Indian Masters, men 35+), Lincy Sukumaran (Qatar Indian Masters, women 20–30), and Surya Suresh (Qatar Indian Masters, women 30+). Syro Malabar Cultural Association received the Best Team award, and Muhsin Omassery (Calicut Sports Club) was named Best Team Manager.Prizes were distributed by a host of dignitaries, including leaders from Indian Sports Centre, Expats Sportive, Pravasi Welfare, ICC, and various community organisations, supported by the organising committee.  Source link
