Director of the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip Brigadier General Raed Al Dahshan said that the continued ban on the entry of heavy machinery and equipment is preventing the recovery of approximately 10,000 bodies still buried under the rubble. In a press statement on Friday, he confirmed that the Civil Defense has only managed to recover about 350 bodies so far, while thousands remain trapped beneath the debris. He emphasized that most of the bodies are known to their families, and that what is often recovered are merely skeletal remains due to the passage of time and the difficulty of rapid access. He noted that the Civil Defense had lost about 85 percent of its equipment, and is now operating at only 5 to 7 percent of its pre-war capacity, resulting in a near-complete paralysis of the agency’s operational capabilities. He said that the crews were working with extremely rudimentary resources, often with their bare hands, adding that only one fire truck, one rescue vehicle, and one ambulance remain operational. He revealed that the Civil Defense Service lost 142 martyrs from its staff while performing their humanitarian duty, and that 352 crew members were seriously injured, which permanently removed them from service, including amputations, permanent disabilities, and severe injuries. The Lebanese army warned that the continuation of Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory and its occupation of a number of areas, as well as the establishment of buffer zones that restrict access to some areas, and the ongoing daily violations of the ceasefire agreement issued on Nov. 27, 2024, all negatively affect the completion of the required tasks, especially in the vicinity of these areas. Therefore, the army underlined that the Lebanese state must extend its authority and confine weapons to its armed forces without exception, and the delayed arrival of promised military capabilities to the army is a significant factor affecting the pace of mission implementation. The Lebanese army confirmed in a statement issued Thursday by the Lebanese National News Agency that these factors require urgent and serious attention as they represent essential elements to enable the army to complete its tasks according to the established plan in a responsible, gradual and coordinated manner, in line with the requirements of the supreme national interest, and to preserve sovereignty and stability. The army also affirmed its continued coordination and joint work with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and with the ceasefire monitoring mechanism, which contributes to strengthening stability in the southern Litani region. The statement added that the army affirmed its full commitment to assuming and exercising the exclusive responsibility for maintaining security and stability in Lebanon, along with all security agencies, particularly in the area south of the Litani River, in fulfillment of its duties stipulated in the Lebanese Constitution and the laws and regulations in force, and in accordance with the decisions of the political authority and its obligations arising from relevant international resolutions. This ensures the return of security and stability to the southern borders, and prevents their use as a launching pad for any military operations, within the framework of implementing the Lebanese state’s decision to extend its authority, exclusively through its own forces, over all its territory Source link

In the Wadi al-Jawaya community in Masafer Yatta, Israeli forces, accompanied by colonists wearing military-style clothing, stormed the eastern part of the community and raided the homes, searching them and ransacking their contents. The raid coincides with an escalation in colonists’ assaults against residents east of the community, including releasing their livestock into farmers’ fields and carrying out provocative tours around residents’ homes. Israeli occupation forces also stormed the Wadi al-Nar area in Adh Dhahiriya, where they detained several citizens, farmers, and orchard owners while they were working on rehabilitating privately owned water springs. Moreover, a Palestinian minor was injured by live fire on Wednesday during an Israeli army incursion into the town of Beita and the village of Odala, south of Nablus. The Commission against the Wall and Settlements said that Israeli authorities, represented by the so-called “Israel Land Authority,” have issued a major tender for the construction of 3,401 settlement units in the area designated as E1, east of occupied Jerusalem. In a statement, the Commission affirmed that this step constitutes a highly dangerous escalation in the repercussions of the accelerated assault on Palestinian lands through colonial settlement plans. It emphasized that Israeli authorities have effectively moved from the planning and approval phase to the implementation phase with regard to this plan. The head of the Commission Mu’ayyad Sha’ban explained that this tender comes as a continuation of the E1 plan, which was approved in August 2025.He pointed out that initiating the tender process effectively means completely separating Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings and linking the Ma’ale Adumim settlement to the city, within the framework of the “Greater Jerusalem” project, thus undermining any realistic possibility of establishing a geographically contiguous Palestinian state. Somalia on Tuesday strongly condemned the entry of the Israeli Foreign Minister into Hargeisa, a city that is an integral part of Somalia's sovereign territories. In a statement on Tuesday, the Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered this action a blatant violation of the country's sovereignty, political unity, and territorial integrity, and an unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of a UN member state. The Ministry affirmed that Hargeisa is an integral and inalienable part of internationally recognized Somali territories, and that any official presence, contact, or dealings within Somali territories without the explicit consent and authorization of the Federal Government are illegal, null and void, and have no legal effect. The statement added that these practices contravene the principles of the UN Charter, the Constitutive Act of the African Union (AU), and international norms governing relations between sovereign states, including respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in internal affairs. The Somali government called on Israel to immediately cease all actions that undermine Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and to fully comply with international law. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Somalia’s commitment to peaceful international engagement, constructive diplomacy, and adherence to international law, while reserving the right to take all necessary diplomatic and legal measures to protect the country’s sovereignty, national unity, and territorial integrity.
