A hearse leaves a funeral home, after the body of cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera, known as “El Mencho”, who was killed last week in a military operation in Jalisco state, was handed over to his family, in Mexico City, Mexico, on Saturday.
The body of Mexican cartel boss Nemesio Oseguera, the country’s most wanted man until his death a week ago, was returned to his family, the attorney general’s office said on Saturday.
Osguera, known as “El Mencho”, was killed in a military operation in Jalisco state last week. That sparked a wave of retaliatory violence by the cartel across much of Mexico, killing dozens and temporarily stranding foreign tourists in their hotels.
The attorney general’s office said they had performed genetic tests to match the remains to the relatives. The office did not say where the handover took place.
