Mexican authorities return body of cartel boss ‘El Mencho’ to relatives

The body of Mexican cartel ‌boss Nemesio ​Oseguera, ‌the country’s most ‌wanted ⁠man until ‌his ‌death a week ⁠ago, was returned to his family, the attorney general’s office said on Saturday.

Osguera, ​known as “El Mencho”, was killed in a ‌military operation in ⁠Jalisco ​state last week. ​That sparked a wave of retaliatory violence by the cartel across much of Mexico, killing dozens and temporarily ‌stranding ‌foreign tourists ⁠in their hotels.

The ⁠attorney ⁠general’s office said they had performed genetic tests to match the remains ​to the relatives. The office did not say where the handover took place.
