Overseas Nepali Unity Forum (Onuf), Qatar celebrated the Nepali women’s festival Haritalika Teej with a special event titled ‘Teej Greetings Programme 2025’.
The function chaired by Onuf president Mohammad Muktada Musalman had the Non-Resident Nepali – National Co-ordination Council (NRNA – NCC) Qatar president Padam Giri as the chief guest.
The newly elected executive committee of NRNA NCC Qatar for the 2025–27 term was feted on the occasion which saw a strong turnout from presidents and representatives of various Nepali organisations in Doha, along with a cross-section of the community.
Nepali women attended the event adorned in colourful traditional attire and red saris, dancing to Teej songs. In keeping with tradition, attendees were served Teej ‘dar’ — a festive meal featuring sel roti, kheer, and achar, symbolising unity and cultural pride.
The programme began with the Nepali national anthem. A minute of silence was observed in honour of known and unknown martyrs who made sacrifices for the nation. The event was inaugurated with lamp lighting and banner unveiling, followed by a welcome speech from Onuf Qatar secretariat member Shushila Rai. Secretary Ruk Bahadur Rana Bhatt was the anchor.
In his remarks, Giri thanked the organising committee and emphasised that NRNA-NCC Qatar is committed to collaborate with all Nepali organisations in Doha to strengthen community ties and for cultural preservation. Onuf president proposed a vote of thanks.
