
Typhoon Kalmagui left at least 241 dead and missing in the central provinces in the worst natural disaster to hit the country in 2025.
The declaration of a state of emergency came during a meeting between the Philippine president and disaster management officials to assess the effects of the typhoon.
Declaring a state of emergency will accelerate relief, rehabilitation and recovery efforts in affected areas by allowing rapid access to emergency funds, imposing controls on the prices of basic commodities and streamlining the procedures for deploying government aid.
