
Qatar Indian Masters emerged as overall champions at the Community Sports Meet, organised by Expats Sportive in celebration of Qatar National Sport Day. Excelling in both track and field events, they secured 147 points to claim the title. KL 10 Legends finished second with 117 points, followed by Calicut Sports Club with 108 points. Syro Malabar Cultural Association and Kia Qatar placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
Held at the Aspire Zone Warm-Up Track and Field with the approval of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, the meet featured around 750 athletes competing in 37 events across athletics and games. Competitions included 100m, 200m, 800m, and 1,500m races, 4×100 relay, long jump, high jump, shot put, arm wrestling, tug of war, shootout, and cricket bowling.
The event also showcased a vibrant march past, with cultural performances including Oppana, Kolkali, Chenda Melam, martial arts displays, and tableaux celebrating the diversity of India and Qatar. Harish Pandey, First Secretary at the Embassy of India, received the salute, and Qatari-based athletes who have represented India internationally were honoured.
Distinguished guests included Abdul Aziz al-Mohannadi (Community Police), Mohammed Nasser al-Kaldi (Kahramaa), ISC president EP Abdul Rahman, ICC general-secretary Abraham Joseph, ICBF general-secretary Deepak Shetty, and several community leaders and organisation representatives.
Individual champions included Abdunnasar Kuniyil (Calicut Sports Club, Masters men 50+), Mahroof (KL 10 Legends, men 20–35), Kannan Santos (Qatar Indian Masters, men 35+), Lincy Sukumaran (Qatar Indian Masters, women 20–30), and Surya Suresh (Qatar Indian Masters, women 30+). Syro Malabar Cultural Association received the Best Team award, and Muhsin Omassery (Calicut Sports Club) was named Best Team Manager.
Prizes were distributed by a host of dignitaries, including leaders from Indian Sports Centre, Expats Sportive, Pravasi Welfare, ICC, and various community organisations, supported by the organising committee.
