Afghanistan A Wednesday posted a 24-run win over Hong Kong in Doha, defending 140/6 with a disciplined bowling display led by Player of the Match Qais Ahmad, whose 3 for 18 broke open the chase at key moments.Sent in to bat, Afghanistan A made a brisk start through Imran’s 20 off 12, but regular wickets prevented any top-order consolidation. Hassan Khan Mohammad struck twice in the powerplay, removing Zubaid Akbari and Sediqullah Atal, while Hong Kong kept the scoring rate manageable.Captain Darwish Rasooli struggled for fluency during his 8 off 23, but the innings steadied when Rahmanullah (24 off 21) and wicketkeeper Mohammad Ishaq added important middle-order runs. Ishaq’s 38 off 29, including three sixes, proved the defining contribution as Afghanistan lifted the run rate late to finish at 140/6.Hong Kong’s reply began poorly, with Zeeshan Ali falling early to AM Ghazanfar.Anshuman Rath and Babar Hayat attempted to rebuild, putting on a partnership that at least kept the chase afloat, but the innings lacked the acceleration required. Rath’s 27 off 35 was steady without being threatening, while Hayat’s 30 off 26 gave Hong Kong their only real momentum before Qais Ahmad dismissed both set batters in the space of four deliveries. That double-strike triggered collapse. Qais trapped captain Yasim Murtaza lbw next ball, leaving Hong Kong at 71/4 and effectively out of the contest. Later, Nizakat Khan and Aizaz Khan fell in quick succession to Bilal Sami, whose 2 for 23 further tightened Afghanistan’s grip.Despite some late resistance from Shiv Mathur (24 off 22), Hong Kong managed only 116/9, never recovering from the triple blow in the 12th over. With bowling figures of 3/18 from Qais and collective economy from the attack, Afghanistan A closed out the match comfortably.Semi-finals line-up: Friday 12:30pm: India A vs Bangladesh A 5:30pm: Pakistan Shaheens vs Sri Lanka AFinal: Sunday at West End International Stadium Related Story Source link

A man looks at a pyroclastic flow during the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java, on November 19, 2025. (AFP) A volcano on Indonesia’s main island of Java erupted Wednesday, throwing ash and gas kilometres into the sky and forcing officials to raise the alert status to its highest level. Mount Semeru in eastern Java, about 310kms west of the tourist hotspot of Bali, erupted at 2.13pm local time (0713 GMT), spewing what are known as pyroclastic flows, Indonesian geological agency head Muhammad Wafid said.”The public is advised not to engage in activities within an 8km radius of the crater or peak of Mount Semeru due to the risk of being struck by ejected rocks,” he said in a statement. The national disaster agency said the plume of ash had risen as far as 13kms into the air. Related Story Source…
