Birla Public School (BPS) celebrated ‘Tamil Day’ with great enthusiasm on January 14 through a special assembly presented by the students of Grades I and II.The assembly highlighted the significance of the Pongal festival, the Tamil language, and the rich culture and traditions of Tamil Nadu. The programme began with a Tamil prayer song, followed by the school’s vision, mission, and objectives. This was complemented by the Arabic Word of the Day, a motivational thought, Discover India, and a Tamil birthday song for students celebrating their birthdays.The young learners displayed their talents through engaging speeches on the traditional festival of Pongal, melodious songs, poem recitations, and a graceful folk dance performance, all dressed as renowned Tamil poets. The event was graced by vice principal Edna Fernandez, and headmistress Josephine Fernandes. In their addresses, they emphasised the importance of the Tamil language and the cultural significance of Indian festivals.BPS continues to foster awareness and appreciation of languages, culture, and festivals among its students, nurturing respect for India’s diverse heritage. The Center for Indian Community (CIC), Rayyan Zone, distributed winter jackets to low-income workers of various nationalities who are working on farms and in other jobs in remote desert areas.More than 200 deserving workers employed in desert regions such as Karana, Munkhar, and Jeryan received the jackets at their respective workplaces, with the support of For Our Brothers Team.The distribution drive was led by CIC Rayyan Zone volunteers Siddique Vengara, Tahir TK, Fahad EK, Rafeeq PC, and Subhan Babu. Igniting minds, inspiring curiosity, and celebrating creativity — Quest 2025–26: Explore. Design. Innovate, the multidisciplinary exhibition of DPS Modern Indian School for classes VI to IX, transformed the campus into a vibrant hub of ideas and innovation on January 14, 2026.The academic extravaganza kicked off with BETA BOT Version 1.0, the school’s latest innovation, unveiling this year’s theme: “Explore new horizons, design with purpose, and innovate for the future”. The project showcased the perfect synergy between human ingenuity and artificial intelligence.Chief guest Rocky Fernandes lauded the exhibition as a transformative journey of curiosity and hands-on learning, while principal Asna Nafees highlighted its alignment with NEP 2020 in nurturing life skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.Students engaged across subjects — English, Mathematics, Science, Computer Science, and Space and Robotics — tackling exciting challenges that blended learning with discovery. MES Indian School, Abu Hamour branch (Mesis), successfully organised a two-day food festival to promote cultural appreciation, teamwork, and social responsibility. The event witnessed the participation of all students from grades 1 to 12, showcasing a variety of hygienically prepared dishes through class stalls, gaining hands-on experience in collaboration and entrepreneurial skills. Parents actively supported the event, strengthening the school–parent partnership, while attractions such as henna designing and face painting added to the festive spirit. The Scouts and Guides ensured smooth conduct by managing discipline and guiding participants. A major highlight of the festival was the donation of all proceeds to Qatar Charity’s Sudan Relief Fund, fostering empathy and global citizenship among students. The junior section students of MES Indian School showcased exemplary talent at the interschool STEM competition recently, clinching first and third positions.The contest was organised by EADAD International Academy and aims to highlight and celebrate outstanding achievements.Parvez Rasool (class II-L) clinched the first prize for his innovative working models. It included a solar panel demonstrating the effective use of renewable energy for eco-friendly power generation, and a distance-sensing television screen detector that activates the screen only when a viewer is at a safe distance, thereby promoting eye safety and responsible screen usage. Meanwhile, Ayman Abdulla (IV-L) secured the third prize for his Smart Plant Care Robot, an intelligent model that moves along a garden pathway and monitors plant health using soil moisture and light sensors, along with a mini windmill to illustrate the application of wind energy.The students were meticulously guided and trained by teachers whose mentorship enabled them to develop innovative projects and present their ideas confidently. The project effectively combined robotics, automation, renewable energy, and plant care in a simple and meaningful STEM model. Uttar Pradesh Pratham Welfare Association (UPPWA), an associate organisation of the ICBF under the aegis of the Indian embassy in Qatar, successfully hosted its inaugural ceremony on January 16 at Kanjani Hall, IICC, Al Thumama, Doha.The event marked the formal launch of the association as an associate organisation under ICBF and witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Indian community.Eish Singhal, first secretary (labour and community welfare), embassy of India in Qatar, graced the occasion as chief guest.During the ceremony, Ziauddin Ahmad, president of UPPWA, presented the association’s mission and vision, highlighting its continued efforts since 2015 to promote the welfare and upliftment of people from Uttar Pradesh. The event beautifully blended Qatari culture, Pakistani traditions, and an international culinary touch, promoting values of harmony, unity, and global citizenship. The school administration extended sincere appreciation to the vice principals of the KG Wing, Primary Wing, Cambridge Wing, Boys Wing, and Girls Wing for their effective leadership and co-ordination. Amrit Uttar Pradesh Navrang Sanskritik Mandal (AUPNSM), Qatar, marked the beginning of the New Year 2026 with a community picnic and get-together at a farmhouse in Shanaiyah.The event brought together members of the Indian diaspora in Qatar for a memorable afternoon and evening of friendship, leisure and entertainment.The atmosphere buzzed with excitement and warmth as professionals, families and children mingled, shared experiences and celebrated the vibrant spirit of unity that defines AUPNSM. The networking session truly reflected the AUPNSM’s commitment to fostering cultural harmony and community solidarity among its members in Qatar.Adding a unique and flavourful twist to the event, live cooking by caterers captivated all. The highlight was the elaborate buffet dinner featuring both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies.The organisers ensured that joy and excitement were shared equally by children and adults alike. Laughter echoed across the grounds during a series of exciting games that encouraged teamwork, creativity, and friendly competition. Birla Public School (BPS) successfully hosted its 22nd Annual Sports Day for Kindergarten and Primary students at the Aspire Dome on January 10.The event brought together the stakeholders of Birla Public School for a day filled with enthusiasm, discipline and memorable performances. Femi Seun Ogunode, an Arab and Asian champion and World bronze medallist, was the chief guest. The event was formally declared open by Indian ambassador to Qatar Vipul. Also present at the opening ceremony were members of the school management and leadership, including Gope Shahani, management representative Chindhu Antony, principal Dr Anand Nair, vice-principal Edna Fernandez, the headmistresses of the Kindergarten and Primary sections, and the headmaster of discipline and activities. The programme commenced with a welcome by the sports captains of Primary 1 and Primary 2, followed by the opening ceremony. The march past featured the four student houses — Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune — along with the Student Council members, Cubs and Bulbuls, Beavers and Brownies. This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony, led by the Sports and House Captains of the Primary section, In a symbolic tribute to the Olympic spirit, director Gope Shahani passed the ceremonial torch to the school’s young sports achievers. The torch was carried forward by 10 student achievers. The event culminated in the presentation of prizes and medals to outstanding performers and winning teams. The event ended with the announcement of the individual champions and the march past winners, followed by a vote of thanks proposed by the Sports Vice-Captain of the Primary section. The Annual Sports Day 2025-26 was formally closed by the principal, who handed over the school flag to Albert Anthony, HOD of the PhysicalEducation Department. Source link

Dr Sulaiman Melpathur, a renowned motivational speaker from India, delivered an engaging address highlighting the importance of nurturing strong moral foundations during the formative years.He underlined how spiritual grounding can help young people develop resilience, purpose and compassion in an increasingly fast-paced world.The session also featured Wafi Shihad, an alumnus of MES Indian School and a youth mentor, who shared his inspiring journey from student life to becoming a positive role model within the youth community.
