Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas, who is visiting Cairo, discussed developments in the Palestinian territories and the latest regional developments.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Egyptian presidency said that the two sides agreed to intensify political coordination mechanisms at all levels during the coming period.
In this context, the Egyptian president affirmed that the Palestinian cause would remain the central issue in the region until it is resolved fairly and comprehensively, pointing to Egypt’s efforts to support the Palestinian people and work toward a settlement in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
For his part, the Palestinian president briefed his Egyptian counterpart on the latest developments related to the Palestinian cause, including the tragic situation in the West Bank as a result of Israeli occupation policies. He stressed the importance of continuing consultations between the two countries on the situation in the Palestinian territories and regional developments.
