Hasan Mahmud to leave Kent ahead of Bangladesh’s winter schedule

Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud will leave Kent early and return home ahead of the national team’s upcoming winter schedule, ruling him out of the final two weeks of the 2026 County Championship.

Kent Cricket confirmed the development in a statement on its verified Facebook page today (14 September), saying the club had discussed Hasan’s return with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

“Hasan will therefore be unavailable for selection for Kent for the final two weeks of the 2026 Rothesay County Championship,” the club said.

Hasan is expected to return to Bangladesh ahead of the Tigers’ upcoming home series against Afghanistan, West Indies and South Africa.

Kent Director of Cricket Simon Cook said the club was disappointed to lose Hasan for the County Championship run-in but respected the decision following “constructive talks” with the BCB.

“We wish him well this Winter,” Cook said.

He added that Hasan’s absence would be a significant loss for Kent, although the club’s other overseas bowlers, Keith Dudgeon and Khaled Ahmed, remain available for the final two matches of the season.

“Everyone at the Club thanks Hasan for his services the season,” Kent said, adding that he would “always be welcome back at Kent”.
