The yards, which provide a direct sales channel for both producers and consumers, are a form of support provided by the State to the farm owners in the mission to boost agricultural production in the country and increasing self-sufficiency rates. More than 50% of local production is marketed through the yards, with the rest sold at the central markets and other commercial complexes.
In particular, Al Wakra yard attracted a large number of shoppers during the opening day. The market showcased a wide variety of agricultural products, with strong sales activity from the early hours. The demand was high on the local produce available in the market, including zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers, various leafy vegetables, Sidr honey, and fresh date molasses.
