Israel’s military shot and killed a Palestinian man during a raid in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, Palestinian health officials said, while the army said it fired at someone who tried to seize a soldier’s weapon.The Palestinian health ministry announced the death of 54-year-old Ziad Mohammad Jaber by “Israeli army gunfire in Umm al-Sharayet, in the city of Al-Bireh”, near Ramallah in the central West Bank. In the early hours of Tuesday, the Palestine Red Crescent Society said its crews were treating someone who sustained “a critical live-fire gunshot wound to the abdomen and thigh” during a military raid in Umm al-Sharayet. More than 31,000 people have been evacuated from at-risk areas in south China’s Hainan Province as persistent heavy rain battered parts of the island.According to China’s Xinhua news agency, 31,564 people had been relocated, though no major disasters were reported, according to the provincial committee for disaster prevention, mitigation and relief.Hainan raised its flood-control emergency response to Level II, coinciding with Wanning, which had activated a Level I emergency response, the highest level in China’s four-tier emergency response system.Authorities in the island province of Hainan, southern China, suspended classes in some areas and closed 27 tourist attractions after a tropical depression formed over the South China Sea, bringing heavy rainfall across the province.The relevant authorities said that they are closely monitoring rainfall and working to prevent flooding, water accumulation in urban areas, geological disasters, and the inundation of roads and bridges. A Palestinian was martyred and six others were wounded as a result of gunfire and raids carried out by the Israeli occupation army in the southern Gaza Strip on Monday.Medical sources reported the martyrdom of a Palestinian by Israeli occupation forces in the Al-Mawasi area west of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.The sources pointed out that five Palestinians were wounded, one of them in critical condition, from shelling by an Israeli drone strike west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, while a sixth Palestinian was wounded by Israeli gunfire in Al-Qassam Street in the center of the city.Israeli vehicles fired east of the city amid continuous artillery shelling, while occupation fire hit the tents of the displaced in the area of the Austrian cemetery, west of Khan Younis. Israeli occupation boats also fired towards the shore of the Rafah Sea, south of the Strip.The number of victims of the Israeli occupation’s aggression on the Gaza Strip has risen since October 7, 2023, to 73,786 martyrs and 174,771 wounded.
