The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) murdered at least 73,032 Palestinian civilians and injured at least 173,357 others since the beginning of the genocide that the Israeli occupation has been committing against the Gaza Strip in October 2023. The health authorities in the Gaza Strip said in a statement on Sunday that hospitals across the Strip received nine Palestinian martyrs and 41 injured others over the past 24 hours. The sources indicated that many of the victims remain under the rubble and scattered on the streets, as ambulance and civil defense crews are still unable to reach them.Since the “ceasefire” agreement went into effect in October 2025, the IOF murdered at least 1,021 Palestinians, and injured at least 3,249 others, while 784 bodies were pulled out from under the rubble. Tight security as India holds exam retest after leak scandal

India’s 2.2 million aspiring medical students sit a re-examination under tight security on Sunday, after the last test was scrapped following a paper leak that triggered widespread outrage.The failure of the hugely competitive exam, along with a separate marking fiasco in high school tests, sparked an outcry and fuelled youth protests demanding the education minister’s resignation.The authorities say they have deployed more than 200,000 officials, including police, and restricted the Telegram messaging app.The National Testing Agency (NTA) said it had put in a place a “multi-layered security framework to ensure a fair and transparent examination”.That includes biometric authentication, AI-enabled camera surveillance and GPS tracking of question papers, it said.The examination is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm local time (0830 GMT).The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the gateway to India’s medical colleges, is taken annually by millions of candidates competing for just over 100,000 undergraduate seats.The intense competition has fuelled a vast coaching industry and created opportunities for organised criminal networks seeking to profit from paper leaks and exam fraud.The leak prompted a backlash from students and parents after last month’s exam was scrapped, with Indian media reporting suicides of some teenagers.India’s Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested the alleged kingpin behind the leak, identifying him as a chemistry lecturer.The NTA said that messaging apps were used “by cheating rackets to defraud candidates” by sharing leaked questions.Telegram head Pavel Durov said the week-long ban would not work, arguing that the “leaks just moved to other apps” and that the issue was the “insiders who leaked the exam materials”.The controversy came on top of another dispute over the online marking system used for tests taken by nearly two million high school students, with many alleging incorrect grades or results were assigned to the wrong candidates.Public anger has also fuelled the rise of the satirical “Cockroach People’s Party”, which has attracted millions of followers since its launch in May and demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. An Iranian delegation landed in Switzerland late Saturday ahead of talks at the Burgenstock resort on the preliminary US-Iran deal to halt the Middle East war, said Bern.”We welcome the arrival of the Iranian delegation in Switzerland,” the Swiss foreign ministry said on X, adding that the talks were part of the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States.Iran’s official news agency IRNA also said Tehran’s delegation had arrived in Switzerland ahead of the talks. Pogacar pips Van der Poel to Swiss Tour TT win

Tadej Pogacar extended his Tour of Switzerland lead after sensationally pipping his one-day classics rival Mathieu van der Poel by just three tenths of a second in Saturday’s individual time-trial. Starting last as the race leader, world champion Pogacar drilled his effort over the 23.7km route around Aarburg as hard as he could, right to the line, and it proved enough to deny Van der Poel a morale-boosting victory. “I felt great. I didn’t know I was fighting for the win. I knew it was close,” said Pogacar, who has won two of the first four stages and is the overwhelming favourite for Sunday’s finale in the high mountains. “I was just trying to go all out to the finish and I’m really happy with the win. “It’s a great race and I’m happy to take a second win and I’ll go out for another one tomorrow.” Pogacar now has 11 wins this season in just 15 race days. As for the overall picture at the mountainous Swiss tour, Pogacar gained more than a minute and a half on his nearest challenger, former Giro d’Italia winner Richard Carapaz, to extend his lead to 4min 22sec. Czech Mathias Vacek moved up a place to third overall with an impressive fourth-placed finish on the day and now sits just five seconds behind Carapaz in the overall standings. Young Italian Andrea Bagioli dropped a place in the overall standings to fourth at 4:46 after finishing 43rd in the race against the clock. Van der Poel had sat in the leader’s chair for around an hour watching the final 50 riders come to the finish. It was not until the last half a dozen or so that his time came under threat as first Norwegian Tobias Foss finished six seconds slower and then Vacek came home just 10sec down. As Pogacar rolled through the red flag banner indicating he had one kilometre to go, it was clear that it was going to be close. But in true Pogacar style, the 27-year-old Slovenian gave it everything, leaving Van der Poel looking stunned, even managing a wry smile. Stage five on Sunday starts at Villars-sur-Ollon and sees the peloton climb the Col de la Croix twice in full and twice partially over the 150.7-kilometre route.
