Member states of the Arab League have strongly condemned Iranian attacks targeting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of several Arab countries.In a statement on Sunday, the bloc said the attacks constitute a blatant violation of international laws and conventions, as well as the principles of good neighborliness, warning of the serious risks they pose to the security and stability of Arab states and the wider region.The member states reaffirmed that Arab national security is indivisible and categorically rejected any infringement on the sovereignty of any Arab country under any pretext. They called on Iran to immediately halt escalatory actions, exercise restraint, and avoid further widening the conflict and its potentially grave consequences.The statement also expressed appreciation for diplomatic efforts undertaken by the Sultanate of Oman and several sisterly countries, notably Qatar and Egypt, as well as friendly states, aimed at preventing further escalation.The bloc underscored the importance of building on those efforts to safeguard regional stability. The Ministry of Interior of Bahrain announced that one person was killed and two others were injured as a result of falling debris from a missile that had been intercepted.In a statement issued early today, the ministry said a fire broke out aboard a foreign vessel undergoing maintenance in Salman Industrial City after debris from an intercepted missile fell on it, resulting in the death of an Asian worker and serious injuries to two others. It added that the fire was brought under control and extinguished.Earlier, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force confirmed that its air defense missile systems had repelled Iranian attacks, stating that a total of 61 missiles and 34 drones were successfully destroyed and intercepted. Warplanes of the Israeli entity launched airstrikes on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.A correspondent for the Qatar News Agency (QNA) in Beirut reported that the strikes came after rockets were fired from southern Lebanon toward the Israeli entity, noting that a large wave of displacement occurred from the southern suburbs following the raids.For his part, Prime Minister of Lebanon, Dr. Nawaf Salam, said in a post on the platform X that the necessary measures would be taken to apprehend those responsible and protect the Lebanese people. He described the rocket fire from southern Lebanon as an irresponsible act that endangers Lebanon’s security and safety and provides the Israeli entity with pretexts to continue its attacks.This marks the first time rockets have been launched toward the Israeli entity since the ceasefire agreement in November 2024.A ceasefire agreement in southern Lebanon entered into force on Nov. 27, 2024, stipulating the withdrawal of Israeli entity forces from border villages and towns within 60 days. Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun has condemned the aggression by the Israeli entity targeting the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.In a statement issued by the Lebanese Presidency, Aoun stated that the launching of rockets from Lebanese territory at dawn today targets all efforts and endeavors made by the state to keep Lebanon distanced from the dangerous military confrontations the region is witnessing. He warned of the repercussions of these confrontations for Lebanon, calling for wisdom and dealing with them with a sense of national responsibility that prioritizes the supreme national interest above all else.He condemned the Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory, warning that persisting in using Lebanon once again as a platform for ‘support wars’. He added that the responsibility for these risks lies with the parties that ignored repeated calls to maintain security and stability in the country.In a related context, Israeli warplanes launched a series of new strikes on southern Lebanon, while the occupation army issued evacuation warnings for more than 50 villages and towns in the south and east of the country in preparation for further raids.
