Israeli air strikes kill 18 in Southern Lebanon

 Israeli air strikes on several areas in southern Lebanon have killed at least 18 people and injured several others, according to Lebanese state media. Lebanon’s National News Agency said civil defense teams recovered four bodies, including children, after a strike targeted a house in the town of Adloun. Another strike on the outskirts of the same town reportedly killed eight Syrians. Additional strikes hit a building in the town of Abbassiyeh, killing four people, while two others were killed in Deir Qanoun Al-Nahr. Separately, an Israeli drone strike targeting a motorcycle on the Abbassiyeh–Tyre road caused several injuries. Lebanese authorities say the overall death toll from Israeli attacks since the escalation of hostilities has risen to 3,355, with more than 10,000 people injured. The strikes come despite an ongoing truce agreement that took effect on April 16 and was extended for a second time on May 15 for an additional 45 days, amid growing international concern over worsening humanitarian and security conditions in the region Source link

Lebanon says death toll from Israeli attacks rises to 3,324

 Lebanon’s Health Ministry said on Thursday that the death toll from Israeli attacks since March 2 had risen to 3,324, with 10,027 others injured. In a statement, the ministry’s Emergency Operations Center said the figures reflected the cumulative impact of ongoing hostilities across the country.Israeli forces have continued operations in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on April 16 and was extended for a second time on May 15 for an additional 45 days. The continued violence has prompted warnings over worsening security and humanitarian conditions in the region. US military planes harming Israeli commercial activity, airports chief says

Ben-Gurion International Airport, Israel’s main air gateway near Tel Aviv, is operating at about one-third of capacity due to the presence of US refuelling aircraft, threatening heavy flight cancellations this summer, the head of the Israel Airports Authority said yesterday.Sharon Kedmi, director-general of the authority, told Kan’s Reshet Bet radio station that 70% of activity at the airport is limited because of the space and resources being taken up by American military activity.”We are only utilising one-third of the airport’s operational capacity,” he said. “We are at the limit of our capabilities. There will be flights that we will announce in the coming days that are being cancelled.”Foreign carriers will not be able to return soon, and as many as 3mn passengers will see their flights cancelled, he added.Dozens of US tanker planes are currently based at Ben-Gurion.The US embassy in Jerusalem referred Reuters to the State Department for comment, which did not immediately respond.Kedmi told the station that in the last two months the authority has lost 700mn shekels ($248mn) and if the situation continues, its loss could turn into billions.He noted that 18mn passengers were projected to pass through the airport, but “right now it looks like we won’t exceed 15mn”.”We have no information when the US military’s activities at the airport will end. We are in a constant state of flux,” Kedmi said.Earlier this month, Israeli media cited Civil Aviation Authority head Shmuel Zakay as saying that US military aircraft at Ben-Gurion were crippling civilian flights, delaying foreign airlines’ return and pushing up airfares.Media reported that at the start of the Iran war, Israeli carriers moved aircraft abroad and they have not all returned.  Source link

GCC Secretary General condemns continued Iranian attacks on Kuwait

Pilgrims perform stoning ritual on first day of Tashreeq

Pilgrims performed the stoning of the three Jamarat on Thursday, the first day of Tashreeq, beginning with the small Jamarah, followed by the middle and the major Jamarah, amid smooth crowd movement and tight security measures.The ritual was carried out under an organized crowd-management plan coordinated by relevant authorities to ensure pilgrims’ safety and ease of movement inside the Jamarat complex.Pilgrims will continue staying in Mina during the days of Tashreeq to complete their Hajj rituals, with some choosing to depart early on the second day.  Source link

Saudi health system provides over 1.2 million health services to pilgrims as of Dhul-Hijjah 10th

The Saudi Ministry of Health announced that it has provided over 1,206,000 health services to pilgrims since the start of the 1447 AH Hajj season until the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah, as part of the health system’s efforts to enhance the quality of medical services provided to pilgrims.The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Abdulaziz bin Hassan Abdulbaqi, stated that the health services provided to pilgrims reached 1,206,035, within the framework of integrated plans aimed at improving access to healthcare and maintaining the health of pilgrims, in line with the objectives of the “Health Sector Transformation” and “Serving the Pilgrims” programs stemming from the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.He explained that the number of beneficiaries of health center and urgent care services reached 49,931, while emergency departments received 41,782 cases, outpatient clinics saw 14,501 patients, and 4,901 cases were admitted to hospitals.He added that the healthcare system performed 29 open-heart surgeries and 251 catheterizations, in addition to 337 various surgical procedures.He noted that medical teams efficiently handled 466 cases of heat exhaustion within a field system designed for rapid response and enhanced medical intervention efficiency, in addition to receiving over 1,082,000 calls through the unified call center (937).The Saudi Ministry of Health affirmed its continued efforts, in accordance with proactive plans and an integrated healthcare system, to ensure the provision of advanced and safe medical care for pilgrims during the Hajj season.  Source link

Pilgrims perform last haj ritual

Muslims stoned the devil yesterday in the climactic ceremony of a haj pilgrimage. From dawn, crowds of pilgrims gathered in the valley of Mina, southeast of the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia, to throw pebbles at concrete pillars symbolising the devil.The pilgrims have been contending with searing desert heat as they perform the days-long, mostly outdoor rituals, with temperatures reaching 44C in Makkah and Mina yesterday.Saudi authorities ramped up anti-heat measures including giant fans, mist sprayers, cooled floors and trucks distributing drinking water.More than 1.7mn people are taking part in the haj this year, slightly up from 2025 despite the Middle East war.Despite the physical challenges, many were overjoyed to complete the pilgrimage, which is one of the five pillars of Islam and must be performed at least once by all Muslims with the means to do so.”I can’t believe I’ve finished the haj rituals,” Iraqi pilgrim Adnan Hamad, 58, told AFP, as his daughters looked on.”Every step was enjoyable despite the extreme hardship.”On Tuesday, pilgrims prayed atop Mount Arafat, where the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) delivered his last sermon.They then spent the night under the stars at Muzdalifah, halfway between Arafat and Mina, where they collected pebbles for the stoning.After this ceremony, the pilgrims return to Makkak for a last circumambulation of the Holy Ka’aba.The haj’s last day is also the start of Eid al-Adha.  Source link
