Asian Athletics (AA) president Dahlan al-Hamad has concluded a three-day official visit to Timor-Leste, aimed at strengthening cooperation and advancing the development of athletics in the country. During the visit, President Dahlan, accompanied by AA Secretary General Shuggumarran, held high-level meetings with President of Timor-Leste Jose Ramos-Horta, Minister of Education Dulce de Jesus Soares, and Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture Nelyo Isaac Sarmento.Discussions focused on grassroots athletics, kids athletics, athlete and coach development, and closer cooperation between the Government of Timor-Leste, the national athletics federation and Asian Athletics. AA also pledged support for the expansion of kids’ athletics programmes in schools and communities through the development and training of officials.The delegation also attended the Dili International Marathon 2026, further highlighting AA’s commitment to promoting athletics and strengthening the sport’s development across Timor-Leste. The visit reinforced cooperation between Asian Athletics and Timor-Leste and laid the foundation for continued collaboration in developing athletics at all levels.  Source link
