Turkiye announces recovery of black box of Libyan Chief of Staff’s private Plane

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the recovery of the black box and cockpit voice recorder of the private jet of the chief of staff of the Libyan army Mohammed Ali Ahmed Al Haddad, which crashed near Ankara Tuesday. In a press conference Wednesday, Yerlikaya said that the Transportation Safety Investigation Center team of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure found the devices in the wreckage area, which spans roughly three square kilometers, adding that the black box and cockpit voice recorder are undergoing examination and evaluation. The Turkish Interior Minister pointed out that 408 personnel have been working at the scene with 103 ground vehicles and seven air vehicles. He added that a Libyan delegation of 22-members, including five relatives of the victims, have arrived in Ankara Source link

Inaugural Police Open Padel Championship for Men concluded

Qatar Police Sports Federation concluded its inaugural Police Open Padel Championship for Men at the 1969 Platinum Padel Hall, with 48 players from 24 teams participating. The closing ceremony was attended by HE Security Advisor to HE the Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi and Vice President of the Qatar Police Sports Federation Colonel Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Thani along with several officers. At the end of the championship, Youssef Hossam and George Wakim were crowned champions, with Sharif Makhlouf and Ali Zaghloul in second place and Mohammed Nasser Al Khanji and Nacho Villarino in third place. Vice President of the Qatar Police Sports Federation Colonel Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Thani expressed his satisfaction with the success of the championship, which saw outstanding participation and fierce competition among the teams. The championship, he added, reflects the Federation’s commitment to supporting open sports activities and fostering a spirit of competition and interaction among Ministry of Interior personnel and the wider community. The participating players also praised the excellent organization, thanking the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Qatar Police Sports Federation, for its efforts in making the tournament a success. India space agency launches its heaviest satellite

India's space agency launched its heaviest ever payload on Wednesday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling the deployment ‘a significant stride’ for the space sector.The LVM3-M6 rocket launched the US-built AST SpaceMobile communications satellite into low-Earth orbit.The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said it was the ‘heaviest payload to be launched from Indian soil’.The launch is a boost for India's ambitious low-cost space programme, with plans for an uncrewed orbital mission and human spaceflight in the coming years.The satellite, weighing 6,100 kilograms (13,448 pounds), was launched on a modified version of a rocket that India plans to use for its future space missions.India is vying for a larger slice of the booming commercial satellite business as phone, internet and other companies seek expanded and more high-end communications.Modi said the launch marked ‘a proud milestone in India's space journey’.’It strengthens India's heavy-lift launch capability and reinforces our growing role in the global commercial launch market,’ he said in a statement.Earlier this year, ISRO launched the CMS-03 communication satellite, which weighs about 4,410 kilograms.For these heavy launches, India has deployed an upgraded version of the rocket it used to send an unmanned craft to the Moon in August 2023.The world's most populous nation has flexed its spacefaring ambitions in the last decade with its space programme growing considerably, and rivalling the achievements of established powers at a much cheaper price tag.It has said it plans to launch an uncrewed orbital mission before its first human spaceflight in 2027.Modi has also announced plans to send an astronaut to the Moon by 2040. Salma wins gold as Qatar shooters shine at Arab Championship

Qatari shooters continued their strong performances at the Arab Pistol and Rifle Championship in Muscat Tuesday, winning four medals. Salma Almas claimed gold in the women’s 10m air pistol event and also teamed up with Duaa Rahmatullah and Aisha al-Abdullah to secure silver in the team competition. Rahmatullah added a bronze medal in the individual event. The mixed doubles pair of Al Maha al-Ali and Abdullah al-Sunaidi captured bronze in the 10m air rifle. With these results, Qatar’s medal tally rose to eight medals – one gold, three silver and four bronze.  Source link

Gazans fear renewed displacement after Israeli strikes

When her children, trembling with fear, ask where the family can go to escape Israel’s continued bombardment in southern Gaza’s Khan Yunis area, Umm Ahmed has no answer. In her small, devastated village near Khan Yunis city, recent Israeli drone and artillery strikes shattered the tenuous sense of peace delivered by a ceasefire that has largely held since October 10. Residents say the strikes have targeted neighbourhoods east of the so-called Yellow Line — a demarcation established under the truce between Israel and Hamas. The Israeli military says its troops are deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire framework. More than two years after Hamas’s October 2023 storming of Israel sparked a devastating war, tens of thousands of Gazans still live in tents or damaged homes in these areas, where the Israeli army maintains control and operates checkpoints. Now, many fear being forced from their homes, compelled to move west of the Yellow Line. “We don’t sleep at night because of fear. The bombardments in the east are relentless,” said Umm Ahmed, 40. “My children tremble at every explosion and ask me, ‘Where can we go?’ And I have no answer.” Her home in Bani Suheila has been completely destroyed, yet the family has stayed, pitching a tent beside the ruins. “Staying close to our destroyed home is easier than facing the unknown,” Umm Ahmed said. Crossing the Yellow Line to Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Yunis, is not an option for them. There, makeshift camps stretch as far as the eye can see, housing tens of thousands of Palestinians who fled the fighting. “There is no place left for anyone there, and not enough food or water,” Umm Ahmed said, as Gaza remains trapped in a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. The Israeli military blames continued threats from Hamas fighters for its actions in the area. The war in Gaza began with Hamas’s storming of Israel in October 2023 . Since the war began, more than 70,000 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run territory’s health ministry. The vast majority of Gaza’s more than 2mn residents were displaced during the war, many multiple times. A fragile ceasefire has been in place since October 10, though both sides regularly accuse each other of violations. Under the truce, Israeli forces withdrew to positions east of the Yellow Line. Earlier this month, Israeli army chief Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir described the Yellow Line as the “new border line” with Israel. “The Yellow Line is a new border line — serving as a forward defensive line for our communities and a line of operational activity,” he said to reserve soldiers in Gaza. For Palestinian officials, the line is seen as a tool for permanent displacement. “The objective is to frighten residents, expel them from their areas, and force them west,” said Alaa al-Batta, mayor of Khan Yunis, denouncing the bombardments as “violations of the ceasefire agreement”. Mahmud Baraka, 45, from Khuzaa, east of Khan Yunis, described constant artillery fire and home demolitions in the area. “It feels like we are still living in a war zone,” he said. “Explosions happen as if they are right next to us. The objective of the occupation is clear: to intimidate us and drive us out, so the region is emptied.” For now, residents feel trapped between bombardment and displacement, uncertain how long they can endure. Despite the danger, Abdel Hamid, 70, refuses to leave his home located north of Khan Yunis, where he lives with his five children. “We will not leave… this is our land,” he said. “Moving would not be a solution, but yet another tragedy.”  Related Story Source link
