HH the Amir, Syrian President hold talks on regional developments

Egypt condemns Iranian attacks on Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain

Egypt on Sunday condemned in the strongest terms the criminal Iranian attacks targeting the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain, considering them a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of those countries and a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the Gulf region and undermines efforts aimed at de-escalation and strengthening regional security.In a statement, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Egypt’s complete rejection of all Iranian attacks targeting the security and sovereignty of Arab states or threatening the security and stability of the region, renewing its full solidarity with the sisterly Gulf states and its support for them in the face of anything that undermines their security and territorial integrity.The ministry also stressed that no pretexts or justifications for these rejected and condemned attacks can be accepted, calling for an immediate halt to all escalatory actions and adherence to the rules of international law in a manner that preserves the region’s security and spares its peoples further tension and instability. Kuwait condemns Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Jordan

Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the criminal Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Qatar and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, describing them as a repeated and flagrant escalation, a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of those countries, and a serious breach of international law, the United Nations Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 2,817.In a statement, the ministry affirmed its full solidarity with the sisterly countries and its support for all measures they take to preserve their security and stability and protect their sovereignty.The ministry stressed that the continuation of these practices threatens the security and stability of the region, reiterating its call on Iran to immediately cease these actions, respect the sovereignty of states, and resolve disputes through peaceful means and dialogue. * SoFi Stadium hosted eight World Cup matches, including the U.S. opener and two Iran games* Venue will host February’s Super Bowl plus ceremonies and swimming at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics* Benedict said halftime surges ‌by soccer fans tested concourses, concessions and restrooms After a ‌month of World Cup crowds, a temporary grass pitch and heightened ‌security around politically ⁠sensitive matches, SoFi ‌Stadium is turning towards its next ‌mega-events with greater confidence, a senior venue executive said.The $5 billion Inglewood stadium hosted ⁠eight World Cup games, including the United States’ opening game and two involving Iran, without major incident.It was an experience that Otto Benedict, senior vice president of facility and campus operations at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, said validated years of planning.”From a public safety perspective, I think that went very, very well,” Benedict told Reuters in an interview.”The number of matches, ​the size of our matches, having two matches with Iran … all of our law enforcement partners, our federal assets and even our local assets worked collaboratively to create a very ‌safe environment.”The run served as ⁠a high-profile test ​for a venue that will host February’s Super Bowl, as well ​as swimming and the opening and closing ceremonies at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.Benedict said the stadium’s systems for ticketing, crowd movement, food and beverage service and entering and exiting the arena held up well under repeated World Cup conditions, when many fans were visiting the venue for the first time.”At no point as we walked around did we see areas where we thought, ‘Hey, we’re actually too tight here, there’s not enough space here,'” he said. “We saw everything flowing very well.” DIFFERENT OPERATIONAL PATTERN Benedict said soccer crowds created ‌a different operational pattern than those ‌at NFL games, with more ⁠fans leaving their seats at halftime and putting pressure on concourses, concessions and ⁠restrooms at the same time.The ⁠stadium handled those surges, he added, giving staff useful information for future events.The venue also drew praise for the temporary natural grass surface installed for the tournament.Benedict said the pitch exceeded expectations and was improving in vitality as the event went on, though he added that keeping grass permanently was not realistic for a stadium ​that hosts two NFL teams, concerts and other events.”It just wouldn’t be a feasible operation,” he said, citing the stadium’s depth below ground, canopy structure and year-round event schedule.While Benedict said SoFi definitely should have hosted a semi-final or final, he noted that the World Cup nevertheless proved the stadium was ready for another Super Bowl, after also hosting the NFL championship game in 2022, and LA28.”It gives us the ability to say to anybody coming in, and even ‌for our own ​operations, that what we’re doing is the right consistency,” he said. “Let’s keep moving these items forward.”   Related Story Source link

The Turkish Ambassador to Doha Dr Mustafa Goksu The recent visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Doha carries exceptional significance, as it comes at a highly sensitive regional time characterised by increasing challenges and critical developments, according to Turkish ambassador Dr Mustafa Goksu. The envoy said the visit witnessed high-level diplomatic engagement, as Fidan was received by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. He also held an official, expanded round of talks with HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as an important meeting with HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs. Dr Goksu noted that the significance of the visit lies in conveying a firm message warning against the risks of an expanding conflict and reaffirming the mutual support for constructive mediation efforts aimed at de-escalation. He stressed the commitment of both Ankara and Doha to safeguarding regional stability and preventing the resumption of military operations, given their catastrophic repercussions for international peace and security and the global economy. The envoy also pointed to the full convergence of views between the two countries, emphasising that the statements made by Fidan — in which he underlined that Israeli expansionism represents “the primary problem” and the main threat to regional stability and security — reflect a deeply rooted and shared strategic position between Ankara and Doha. He added that the expansionist and aggressive policies pursued in Gaza, Lebanon, the West Bank, and Syria have claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people and triggered waves of forced displacement that have turned millions of rightful inhabitants into refugees facing severe humanitarian conditions. Accordingly, Dr Goksu reiterated Turkiye’s full support for Qatar’s tireless efforts to defuse and resolve crises through diplomacy and effective mediation, noting that the two brotherly countries constitute an integrated pillar of stability and consistently support one another’s initiatives across international platforms. The envoy concluded his statement by affirming that these discussions reflect the strong political will of the leaderships of both countries to play an active and influential role in resolving regional crises, while embodying their mutual commitment to coordinating positions and enhancing joint co-operation. He stressed the steadfast position of both countries in supporting the resilience of the brotherly Palestinian people and adhering to the two-state solution as the sole strategic path toward achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.  Related Story Source link

QIA, COFIDES launch joint investment fund to support Spain’s green, digital transition
